Transcript - How to read your Smart Meter

George: Every 30 minutes the Smart Meter records usage and it is stored on the meter’s hard drive. Each Smart Meter has a number of registers that provide different information. For example, time, date, total usage and, if you have solar panels, total consumption. The usage and consumption registered on the Smart Meter still shows you the accumulated total since the meter installation date.

Your bills may look different after you get a Smart Meter at your property and may not show the start and end reads in the same way, but you can still check that they are correct by taking readings on the scheduled read dates which are shown on your bills. You then subtract the number you noted down last time from the latest figure. The results should be approximately the same as the number that is printed on your bill.
